The Open 2010

The Open Championship will return to St Andrews for the 28th time in 2010. The occasion will be all the more special as it will be the 150th anniversary of the first Open Championship. The Open takes place from 15 - 18 July 2010.

As part of the celebrations a gallery of former Open champions will gather at the Home of Golf on the eve of the championship to take part in a four hole competition on the Old Course. The champions who have been invited to take part in the event played over the 1st, 2nd, 17th and 18th holes of the Old Course are:

The championship itself will see Tiger Woods have the opportunity to become the first player to become a three-time Open champion at St Andrews after his victories in 2000 and 2005. And the younger generation led by the likes of Rory McIlroy, Antony Kim and Martin Kaymer will be looking to cement their places in the history of the game by winning a major in the place where the game was first played.
