St Andrews Links annual August Tournaments have drawn to a close after another thrilling fortnight of golf.
The second week saw nearly 350 golfers take part in the Eden and Strathtyrum Tournaments with Craig Smith emerging victorious in the Eden Trophy (Scratch) final, the Pike Hills golfer defeating Kings Lynn's Jack Yule 3&2.
In the Eden Tankard (Handicap) Dean Burger, from Abridge, defeated Dungarvan's Kevin Cusack 5&4 to lift the trophy, which was first played for in 1919.
In the ladies counterpart, the Strathtyrum Tournament, Marit Harryvan, from the Netherlands, defeated defending champion Karen Marshall, from Baberton, 2&1 in a closely contested final to lift the Strathtyrum Trophy (Scratch).
Meanwhile the Strathtyrum Salver (Handicap) was won by Woburn's Liz Ward following a 6&5 victory over Burton-on-Trent's Esther Hutcheson.
The August Tournaments are hugely popular with golfers from across the globe and as well as offering up competitive golf are a great source of friendship and camaraderie for all the participants and staff across the Links.
St Andrews Links would like to wish every participant a safe journey home and looks forward to welcoming everyone back in the future. Keep visiting www.standrews.org.uk to find out more about the entry opening dates for the 2014 tournaments.
