Victorious European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie leads nine of his team to the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship which begins on Thursday.
After a thrilling 14 1/2 to 13 1/2 victory over the Americans in Wales on Monday, which went down to the 17th hole of the last match where Graeme McDowell defeated Hunter Mahan to claim the winning point, Monty will be turning his mind to the Dunhill Links Championship which he won in 2005.
As well as Monty (pictured) and the triumphant MCDowell, Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy, Padraig Harrington, Martin Kaymer, Ross Fisher, Peter Hanson and Francesco and Edoardo Molinari will be journeying north to play in the championship this week which takes place over the Old Course at St Andrews Links, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.
Golf fans in Scotland will have the opportunity to greet their heroes and celebrate the dramatic Ryder Cup win for the Europeans at one of the tour's most popular events.
McDowell, who won the US Open in June, and Kaymer who captured the USPGA title in August lead one of the strongest fields ever for the Dunhill which also includes three-time major champion Ernie Els, former St Andrews Open champion John Daly, double US Open champion Retief Goosen, former Open champion Paul Lawrie and defending champion Simon Dyson. The prize fund for the event is £3.1 million.
A host of stars from sport, film, music and TV will join the professionals in the championship which comprises two separate competitions: an individual professional tournament for the world's leading golfers and a team event in which the professionals are paired with the celebrities.
The championship runs from Thursday until Sunday. It has free entry for the first three days and then admission is £15 for the final round on the Old Course on Sunday.
