Final practice for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship28/09/2011

Some of the world's leading golfers and a selection of stars from sport, film and music were in final practice today ahead of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship which starts tomorrow.

World number one Luke Donald (pictured) and his celebrity playing partmer, former Liverpool forward Jamie Redknapp, were among those enjoying the warm, sunny conditions for practice on the Old Course.

In one of the storngest ever fields in the pro-am event's history the likes of Open champion Darren Clarke, US Open winner Rory McIlroy and Charl Schwartzel, who won the US Masters, will join defending champion and former USPGA winner Martin Kaymer, former world number one Lee Westwood and American Ryder Cup star Dustin Johnston.

Among the celebrity amateurs taking part will be Wall Street star Michael Douglas, Bonjovi drummer Tico Torres, football legend Johan Cruyff and tennis ace Tim Henman.

Taking his place in the field will be 14 year old St Andrews Links Junior Golf Association (SALJGA) member Alasdair McDougall. Alasdair, who is a member of the New Club, won the the SALJGA Order of Merit this year and was on the standby list for the championship. When former South African rugby player Morne du Plessis withdrew today, Alasdair was given his chance.
