Fresh from taking part in the Junior Ryder Cup at Gleneagles young German golfer Moritz Lampert is teeing it up with some of his senior counterparts at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship this week with the support of Allianz, the global partner of St Andrews Links.
The 18 year-old German internationalist is playing in the prestigious pro-am team competition which got underway today alongside some of the world's leading golfers including nine members of the victorious European Ryder Cup team and the likes of Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and John Daly.
After playing a practice round on the Old Course with Ryder Cup vice-captain and Allianz golf ambassador Paul McGinley, Lampert expressed his delight at having the chance to play at the Home of Golf.
"It has always been my dream to measure myself directly against the best in our sport," he said. "That this dream should come true at the legendary Old Course at St Andrews Links is sensational. I will give my all and enjoy every stroke."
Christian Deuringer, vice president and head of global brand management at Allianz SE, said, "We wish Moritz great success but above we hope he enjoys this amazing experience."
Moritz is playing in the team event this week with the Australian Matthew Griffin.
