Australia's top three amateur golfers are the latest entrants to the St Andrews Links Trophy which will be played over the Old Course and Jubilee Course on 25th and 26th May.
Marcus Fraser, 23, Luke Hickmott, 20, and Andrew Buckle, 19, are the latest crop of players to come through the Australian system which recently has produced leading professionals such as Adam Scott and Aaron Baddley.
All three players have had extensive international experience and are likely to represent Australia in the Eisenhower Trophy this year in Malaysia.
Buckle, in particular, has a string of success to his name which include winning the 1999 and 2000 World Junior Championships, finishing leading amateur and seventh overall in the 2000 Australian Open and winning the 2001 Australian Amateur Championship.
Fraser, Hickmott and Buckle will be hoping to repeat the successes of countryman Stuart Bouvier, the St Andrews Links title holder in 1990. Other winners include Justin Rose, Russell Claydon and last year, Steven O'Hara.
The organisers of the St Andrews Links Trophy recently concluded a three-year agreement with Burberry which will help to further their aim of making it the world's top stroke play tournament for amateur golfers.
