At the recent Scottish Public Relations Awards, the online sale of the Old Course Starter's Box put the Links Trust in the winner's spot for the Best Use of New Media category.
Held in Glasgow, it was the first ever Scottish Public Relations Awards ceremony and was organised in association with the Institute of Public Relations (Scotland) and The Drum magazine.
Last year's sale of the Old Course Starter's Box, which was scheduled for demolition, was praised as an innovative way to raise money for the development of junior golf.
After some intense bidding on the web until the deadline, the box went to The Country Club of the Desert, California, for £59,000.
"The sale created a lot of interest world wide with bids from all over the world," said Peter Mason, external relations manager. "A wider impact was to raise awareness of the role of the Links Trust, the new junior golf programme and the website."
