In the final played on the Eden Course, Tiley (Royal Cinque Ports) was always in control against Sam Irving (Howth). Three up at the turn, Tiley held onto his lead finishing with a 5 and 4 victory. Earlier in the day, Tiley, a former England internationalist and about to start a golf scholarship in the USA, birdied the 18th to beat local hopeful, Niall Finlay, by one hole. Irving also experienced a closely fought semi final playing against Andrew Morrison (Appleby) winning with a birdie on the first extra hole.
In the handicap event, Alan Williamson (Bruntsfield Links) won the Eden Tankard after beating Derek Park (Hamilton) 4 and 3. The winner of the Victory Cup for the lowest scratch score in the qualifying rounds was Keith Leahy (Mill Ride GC) who also picked up the Duke of York Cup for the lowest net score (handicap) in the qualifying rounds. The winner of the Murray Mitchell Trophy for the Medal competition on the Jubilee Course was Michel Ithurralde from France.
