The winner of the 2003 St Andrews Boys' Championship was Richard Gurney, a member at King's Norton, with a convincing 3 and 2 victory over Rob Gardiner (Piltdown GC) on the Old Course.
The 15-year-old from Birmingham is one of the youngest winners of the title, now in its twenty-third year. His journey to claim the Merchant's Cup included a 2 and 1 victory over Morgan Johnson from the USA in the semi final, and a 3 and 2 win in the quarter final against fellow club member, James Berwick.
In the handicap section, four handicapper Peter McLachlan (Eastwood GC) took home the Murray Mitchell Cup after beating Simon Lord (Burnham and Berrow) by two holes.
The David Ayton Cup for best stableford score went to Robert hart (Stoke Park) for his score of 44 points.
England's Rachel Bell (Ganton GC) repeated her success of last year winning the 2003 St Andrews Junior Ladies Championship. Playing against Sophie Walker (Kenwick Park), 21-year-old Bell won the Golf Monthly Salver with a 4 and 3 victory in the final on the Old Course.
Amy Alexander a member at Elie and Earlsferry won the handicap event beating Louise Birrell (Lundin Ladies) 2 and 1.
The St Andrews Links Quaich for the best stableford score went to Fiona Crossley (Forest park) for her score of 37 points.
