Local golfer and current club champion at St Andrews Golf Club, Kenny Stirling, was defeated in the final of the Eden Tournament on the Old Course by James Corfield from Bearwood Lakes Golf Club in Berkshire.
Previous winner and twice a beaten finalist, Karen Marshall (Baberton) won the Strathtyrum Tournament defeating local golfer, Fiona de Vries (St Rule), 4 and 3 in the final on the Eden Course last Friday.

Despite leading twice during the front nine, Stirling's hopes of victory slipped away as Corfield drew level at the turn and moved into the lead on the back nine. A par four on the 17th gave Corfield a 2 and 1 victory.

Earlier in the semi finals, Corfield beat James Sharpe (Woolaton Park GC) 4 and 3 to earn his place in the final while Stirling won 1 up against Keith Leahy (Millride).

Another St Andrews Golf Club member, Stewart Rennie won the Eden Tankard for the men's handicap event, beating Mark Shaw (West Sussex) 2 and 1.

Marshall took last year's winner, Lynda Brabender (Greenock GC), out of the running in the quarter final beating her 4 and 3. She then came up against former finalist Jenny Tootell (Blackpool North Shore) and defeated her at the first extra hole. Meanwhile in the other semi-final, de Vries, who won the trophy in its first year in 1989, beat Laura Archer (Market Drayton) 3 and 1.

Jane Graham (Moor Park) won the Strathryum Salver in the handicap event with a 6 and 5 victory over Pat Vickers.
