The qualifying rounds are over and today the first round of the 2003 British Mid-Amateur Championship gets under way.
Neil Steven, Brian Heggie, Gary Sharp and Kevin Hastie, all members of the St Andrews Golf Club, made the cut for the matchplay event after their qualifying rounds on the Eden and Jubilee Courses. Hastie carded a combined score of 145, just one shot behind Bryan Norton (USA) who led the field with 144.
Heggie will have his work cut out for him this morning as he tees up against last year's winner, John Kemp (John O'Gaunt).
