NEW TRUSTEE FOR ST ANDREWS LINKS10/02/2003

Fiona de Vries (47) has been appointed as a Trustee of St Andrews Links Trust, the body responsible for running the six courses at St Andrews Links including the Old Course.

Mrs de Vries was nominated by Fife Council to take up the place vacated by Mrs Nicola Davidson who came to the end of her term of office on 31 December 2002. Mrs de Vries will serve for an initial three year term.

A member of The St Rule Club in St Andrews since 1988, Mrs de Vries is a keen golfer who now plays off a handicap of 4. She has been a selector with the Scottish Ladies Golf Association and is a former Captain of the Scottish Ladies Junior Team and of the Scottish Girls International Team. She was the Midlothian County Champion in 1984/5.

She is a member of Baberton Golf Club in Edinburgh and of the Dukes Course in St Andrews, as well as of the St Rule Club.Married with two grown up children, Mrs de Vries has lived in St Andrews since 1988 and has been involved in the family hotel business for the past 15 years with her husband Gordon. She was born and educated in Edinburgh.
