The final of the PGA Wee Wonders Open Golf Championship 2003 is being held on the Balgove Course, St Andrews Links on Sunday 21 September. A total of 72 youngsters aged 5-12 from around Great Britain and Ireland will gather in St Andrews for the final, which is the culmination of 6 months of qualifying rounds and nine regional finals.

Started in 1995 by Alasdair Good, head professional at Gullane, the PGA Wee Wonders tournament has become the biggest national golf event for children aged 12 and under.

"We are delighted that the final of the 2003 Wee Wonders Championship is being held here at the Home of Golf," said Alan McGregor, General Manager at St Andrews Links Trust. "We are active supporters of junior golf and looking forward to welcoming the best young golfers from around Great Britain and Ireland. It will certainly be an inspiration for our own youngsters."

Two members of St Andrews Links Junior Golf Association have qualified for the final - seven-year-old Lauren Whyte and eight-year-old Ewan Scott.

"We are thrilled to offer support to this event which promotes golf at its grassroots level. The PGA Wee Wonders Championship is one of a number of initiatives that the PGA supports as part of its overall aim to encourage more juniors to take up golf."
