Golf Practice Centre to be top golf academy 27/06/2005

From 2006 golfers wishing to refine their skills at the Home of Golf will be able to use a state-of-the art coaching facility which is set to become one of the foremost golf academies in the UK.



Work starts in the autumn on the creation of an additional14 indoor bays at the Golf Practice Centre, which is run by St Andrews Links Trust. This will bring the total number of bays to 51. Four of the new bays will be dedicated to coaching and equipped with the latest video and digital swing analysis technology. It will also have a new equipment testing and club fitting facility

A team of top class PGA professionals employed by PGA Golf Management will be based at the Centre from March 2006. They will be specially trained in the use of computer and video analysis systems which will result in a more precise and detailed diagnosis of an individual's swing.

"We are delighted to be given the opportunity to work with the Links Trust at the Home of Golf and are looking forward to having a presence in this superb new facility, which will add an extra dimension to the tuition currently on offer," said PGA Chief Executive, Sandy Jones.
