New Head Greenkeepers at the Links06/01/2005

St Andrews Links has appointed Gordon McKie to the position of head greenkeeper of the 110-year-old New Course following David Coull's return home to Luffness, East Lothian.

Gordon has been with the Links for ten years, half of them spent as head of the Eden. "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Eden Course and I look forward to the challenge of maintaining a championship links at the Home of Golf. I can't wait to get started!"

Stepping into Gordon's shoes is Graeme Taylor. Graeme, who is originally from East Kilbride, was head greenkeeper at Canon's Court in Gloucestershire before returning to Scotland to work at the Links in May 1998.

Graeme said: "I'd like to continue the good work put in by Gordon who has built a good squad. I am looking forward to our main projects - turning the 16th green into a links green, and working on the 5th green. It will also be interesting to see how what happens on this side of the Links during The Open."

Kevin Muir is moving from the Strathtyrum to become deputy head greenkeeper on the Eden and Richard Devlin is moving from the Old to be a senior on the Strathtyrum.
