Wee Wonders: the Grand Finals12/09/2005

St Andrews Links Trust played host to the grand finals of the Wee Wonders competition for 2005 over the weekend of September 10-11.

It was the third consecutive year that the Links Trust has staged the finals of this prestigious national golf competition for children aged between 5 and 12 years of age.

A total of 70 youngsters from Great Britain and Ireland earned the right to play on the Balgove Course at the Home of Golf after battling their way through over 80 qualifying rounds and nine regional finals.

Ashley Cramond of Hatton in Warwickshire won the girls' 11-12 age group title after a countback, having tied with Hannah Turland, who was runner-up in the 9-10 age group last year. The senior boys' title was won by Ryhs Pugh of Pontypridd. Aaron Rai of Wolverhampton went one better than last year when he won the boys' 9-10 title.

The winners in each age division have been invited to join Team HSBC Wee Wonders GB&I at the forthcoming World Championships, while the top placed boy and girl in the 11-12 age group were given the opportunity to play in the HSBC World Matchplay Pro-Am at Wentworth.
