Father and Son title goes to USA21/04/2006

The annual Father and Son Tournament has been won by American pair Donn and David Loe.

Held in honour of the legendary St Andrews partnership of Old Tom Morris and Tommy Morris, this year’s event, which takes the form of a better ball stableford, was played over the New Course, Carnoustie, Crail and the Old Course. The Loes scored an impressive 144 points over the four days of competition, gaining a narrow victory over fellow Americans Tony and Christian Thornley who scored 143. Third place went to Australia’s Rob and David Salmon with 141.

Ideal conditions greeted the competitors coming to the Old Course after three days of dry but windy weather at the other venues and the final day’s play was followed by a gala dinner and prize giving ceremony held at Charleton House, with all the participants wearing traditional highland dress.

Next year's tournament dates are Saturday 14 April to Wednesday 18 April 2007.
