Oliver Fisher today won the Links Trophy 2006 with a final score of 280, seven under par. He held off the challenge of Australia's Stephen Dartnall (282) and playing partner Keir McNicoll of Carnoustie (284) to record the first big title of his career. The 17-year-old from West Essex GC, who has already represented GB&I in the Walker Cup, showed strength of character to hold out for victory on a hot and windy Old Course.

Oliver Fisher (below) takes a three shot lead into today's final round. His morning round of 71 on the Old Course was his third sucessive under par round at the Links Trophy 2006. Second equal are Robert Dinwiddie and Stephen Dartnall, whose 68 tied with fellow Australian Andrew Martin for best third round score

The field was cut at 148, five over par. Forty three players qualified for the final two rounds of play on the Old Course.

A windy day has made low scoring difficult on the Old Course. Oliver Fisher of West Essex returned a 70 to lie seven under par for the tournament. His two round total of 136 gives him a three shot lead over Keir McNicoll of Carnoustie. Robert Dinwiddie achieved the best score of the day, a three under par 69, to lie third on 140. Overnight leader Nigel Edwards returned a 77, for 141.
