The event enables golfers to play a round on the Old Course on its original clockwise routing, creating a new challenge by bringing a range of hazards back into play. Such was the popularity of this year’s event that the dates for next year have already been set for Friday 30 March, Saturday 31 March and Monday 2 April 2007.
Elsewhere this week, the Old Course is staging the final round of the Tartan Day golf event. The competition culminates today with 42 competitors from as far afield as China and America battling it out over 18 holes. Earlier rounds took place at Carnoustie, Gleneagles and Montrose. Also taking place today is the St Andrews International Golf Pro-Am.
With many golfers from around the world keen to get out and start their season off at the Home of Golf, the daily ballot for today was again oversubscribed.
