Wowow TV filming at the Home of Golf 02/11/2007

A film crew from Japan is filming at St Andrews Links this week for an episode in a television series dedicated to some of the UK’s most famous sporting venues.

The crew, which is from Wowow TV, the leading pay-TV sports channel in Japan, arrived in St Andrews earlier this week. They have been filming at the Old Course and The Castle Course, which is due to open for play in June next year

As well as filming the courses at the Home of Golf, the crew have covered the work of the Links Trust greenkeepers, the Old Course Experience, the British Golf Museum and local golf historian David Joy.

Alan McGregor, general manager of the Links Trust, which manages and maintains the seven public courses and facilities, said, “We are well accustomed to working with film crews from round the world and it is good when crews from as far afield as Japan come here to film. The Old Course attracts a great deal of media interest as the place where the game began but with The Castle Course nearing completion it has become a source of great interest in its own right.”
