Old Course (Par 72)

Rory McIlroy shot a 63 during the first round of the 2010 Open. He holed eight holes under par, scoring a birdie at 3, an eagle at 9 and a spectacular six birdies on the back nine at 10, 11, 12, 14, 15 and 18.

Nigel Edwards

 

New Course (Par 71)

Nigel Edwards of Whitchurch GC returned a 64 to set a new record for the 6781 yard long championship New Course during the Links Trophy of 2006. After a three at the par four first, Edwards went on to birdie all the par fives, at 3, 8 and 12, and three of the four par threes: 9, 13 and 17.

James Heath

Jubilee Course (Par 72)

The record score on the Jubilee is 63, set by James Heath during the 2004 Amateur Championship. He went out in 31 with birdies at 2, 3, 6, 7 and 9. An eagle at the 11th brought the record within reach, and two further birdies at 14 and 18 sealed James' unprecedented performance on the 6742 yard course.

Denise Becker of Germany

Old Course (Par 76)

Denise Becker from Germany shot a spectacular 66 on the Old Course during the final round of St Rule Trophy of 2007. Playing the normal ladies' course of 6032 yards, Denise began with four birdies and an eagle. She added birdies at 7 and 9 to stand 8 under at the turn. Three consecutive birdies at 10, 11 and 12 took her to 11 under, but a bogey at 15 meant she came home ten under.

Old Course (Par 73)

Lorena Ochoa set the groundwork for her triumph in the 2007 Ricoh Women's British Open with a first round six under par 67 on the professionals' course of 6638 yards. Birdies came at 5, 8, 9, 10, 15 and 17.

Mhairi McKay of Scotland

Scotland's Mhairi McKay shot 67 on the morning of the fourth round of the Women's Open, carding birdies at 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 14 and 18; the last one after hitting off Granny Clark's Wynd. She double bogied 12. Mhairi set the normal ladies' course record of 67 in 1993, broken in 2007 by Denise Becker.

Miki Saiko of Japan

Miki Saiko of Japan is the third golfer to share the professional record score on the Old Course after she too shot 67 in the final round. Miki's birdies fell at 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 14 and 17. She lost a shot at 16.
