St Rule Trophy 2014

Tournament Conditions

  • A competitor must be an amateur as defined by the current Rules of Amateur Status.
  • The Tournament shall be decided by strokes over three rounds of 18 holes each, which shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by R&A Rules Ltd and in accordance with the Local Rules approved by the Tournament Committee.
  • 60 competitors shall be eligible to compete. They shall play two rounds over the New Course on Saturday 31 May 2014 and one round over the Old Course on Sunday 1 June 2014. NB: All competitors will play 54 holes.
  • In the event of a tie after three rounds, the competitors who tie shall play a hole by hole (sudden death) play-off to determine the winner. All other ties shall be decided by a card play-off over the final 18 holes or last 9, 6, 3 holes or last hole. If there is still a tie, the scores for the second round shall be treated in the same way until a decision is reached.
  • Team Award: any country may nominate a team of two or three players, the two lowest scores in each of the three rounds to count, ties to be decided by card play-off over the last 18, 9, 6, 3 or 1 hole(s). In the event of a further tie, this shall be decided by card play-off over the last 9, 6, 3 or 1 hole(s) of the second round. Team nominations must be submitted, signed by an official of the players’ National Association, and reach the St Rule Club not less than seven days before the Tournament. Should one or more of the nominated players be incapacitated by illness, accident or other unavoidable occurrence, the nominated reserve or reserves may be substituted, in order of selection, up to the advertised time of starting of the affected player or players.
  • The Specimen conditions in the Rules of Golf are in effect as regards Driving Clubs and Conforming Golf Balls.
  • Drugs: Players must not make use of any drug to enhance performance. Should a player show clinical evidence of use of a drug for non-therapeutic purpose, the Committee may require the player to undergo a drug test. Any player infringing this Condition may be disqualified. Players who are on medication and in doubt as to their clinical status should seek advice from the Tournament Office.
  • Transportation: Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorised by the Committee.
  • Distance-measuring devices: The specimen Local Rule on pg 136 in the Rules of Golf will be in effect allowing the use of distance-measuring devices. 
  • The Competitor shall start at the time laid down by the Committee.
  • The Committee reserves the right to fix and/or alter starting times and to alter or amend any of the conditions.
  • The Committee’s decision in all disputes is final.

 

Entry Conditions

  • The St Rule Trophy shall be open to lady amateur golfers who are members of a recognised golf club, who have amateur status in accordance with the current Rules of Amateur Status and who hold a current CONGU exact handicap of 3.4 or under or overseas equivalent at the date of entry.
  • Entries are limited to 60 and should entries exceed this number the successful entrants will be those with the lowest handicap.
  • Entries will be accepted as follows:

  • Competitors will be required to submit verification of their exact handicap: For online entries, either enter your CDH number (for entrants from Scotland, England or Wales), or attach your current certificate (online entry file format: gif/jpg/doc/pdf) or submit by post / email to The St Rule CLub within 5 days from date of entry.
  • The closing date for entries is Monday 28 April 2014.
  • The entry fee is £45. After the closing date and when your successful entry has been confirmed, you will be requested in writing to pay the entry fee of £45 – payment details will be confirmed to you with full payment required within two weeks of the request date. Failure to pay the entry fee by the required date will result in your name being withdrawn from the Tournament. Entry fees will not be refunded.
  • All entries will be subject to the approval of the Committee, which reserves the right to accept or refuse or, having accepted, subsequently reject any entry without giving reason for its decision.

 

Trophies and Prize money

  • The St Rule Trophy (presented by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews) shall be awarded to the player returning the lowest score for the 54 holes. The winner shall receive a St Rule Memento and a voucher valued at £300.
  • The Everard Trophy shall be awarded to the player returning the second lowest score for the 54 holes together with a voucher valued at £220.
  • Vouchers will be awarded for the remaining places to the value of: 3rd place - £170, 4th place - £130, 5th place - £110, 6th place - £100.
  • The Lawson Trophy shall be awarded to the player under 18 years of age on the 1st January 2014 who returns the lowest score for 54 holes, together with a voucher valued at £120.
  • The player returning the lowest score in each round shall receive a voucher for £60. In the event of a tie the voucher value will be shared equally.
  • The Team with the lowest aggregate score for the three rounds will receive individual vouchers valued at £30 each.
  • The trophies will be retained at the St Rule Club.

 

Registration

  • Competitors are requested to register at the Tournament Office on the Bruce Embankment on Friday 30 May 2014 from 9.00am – 6.00pm. If you are unable to register on 30 May, please telephone The St Rule Club on 01334 472988 and you must then register in the Links Clubhouse (near the 1st tee of the New Course) at least 30 minutes before your starting time on Saturday 31 May 2014.
  • Courtesy practice rounds will be available on the New Course and the Old Course on Friday 30 May with a few courtesy afternoon times also available on the New Course on Thursday 29 May 2014.   Reservations for practice times can be made by calling St Andrews Links on 01334 466618, Monday – Friday between 9.00 am – 5.00 pm. Please do not attempt to reserve practice times until after the draw has been published. Practice times must be reserved no later than Wednesday 28 May 2014.
