Freddie Tait
This double winner of the amateur championship lived in Edinburgh but spent most of his leisure time playing golf at St Andrews. He was tragically killed in the Boer War, prompting those who remembered his good honour and amiable manner to set up a memorial fund, some of which benefited the hospital in St Andrews. There is an annual competition for the Freddie Tait Medal.

Tee Shot
The line is halfway up the left hand dune.

Index 14/8

Approach
The long second must be placed just right of the bunker guarding the left side approach 29 yards out from the centre of the green.
