Cartgate (In)
In 1869, the
Green Committee of that year decided to fill in the small
bunker that is just beyond Cottage bunker. AG Sutherland,
a local golfer, took considerable exception to this tinkering
with the course and three days after the original decision,
the bunker was miraculously restored. Everyone thought, incorrectly,
that it was Sutherland's work and the bunker is known as Sutherland
to this day.
