The Old Course. Hole 16, Corner of the Dyke.
Par 4
Medal Tee: 381 yards
Ladies Tee: 325 yards

Corner of the
Dyke
The green is
tucked into the corner of the dyke (or wall) which also gives
its name to the second hole.

Tee Shot
Prudent golfers drive to the left of the Principal's Nose
bunker. The more heroic golfers can try the gap between Principal's
Nose and the out of bounds line. This makes for a shorter,
easier second shot but this line off the tee was famously
described by Jack Nicklaus as 'strictly for amateurs'.

Approach
From the left,
the shot to the green is threatened by Grant's and Wig bunkers.
It is wise to be long to master the significant bank to the
front of the green. There is little trouble through the back.
