NEW CLUBHOUSE
ON THE LINKS
The latest addition
to St Andrews Links, the Eden Clubhouse opened its doors to
golfers on Wednesday 1 March.
Ideally placed
for golfers on the Eden, Strathtyrum and Balgove Courses,
the £1.3m clubhouse is the last major project in the
Links Trust's current investment plan which has
seen around £12m invested in the Links since 1993.
"The Eden
Clubhouse is a welcome addition to the Links and complements
the existing Links Clubhouse which is used by golfers playing
the Old, New and Jubilee Courses," said Bill Ritchie,
Chairman of Trustees. "The Eden Clubhouse offers the
same high standard of service and facilities to golfers and
will greatly enhance St Andrews Links' reputation as a world-class
centre of excellence for golf."
Initially the Eden
Clubhouse will be open from 7am until 6pm every day and the
hours will be extended in Spring. The locker rooms are equipped
to a high standard throughout and secure overnight storage
for clubs and shoes can be arranged. Sets of clubs and shoes
can be also be hired from the well-stocked golf shop behind
the reception desk.
The lounge and
bar will not be open until building work is completed. The
lounge and bar feature a spiral staircase leading to an upstairs
seating area and balcony with superb views over the links
towards the sea. A special room has been allocated to junior
golfers where they can wait to be collected by their parents.
Information about
all aspects of golf in St Andrews and the surrounding areas
is available from the reception and souvenirs and golfers'
accessories are available from the Links Golf Shop.
