PRESS RELEASE 18 November 2002
LINKS
SEASON TICKET PRICES AGREED
Following
its annual review of season tickets, the Links Management
Committee has agreed new season ticket prices to come into
effect on 1 April 2003.
The following
tickets will each increase by £1. The Links ticket for
residents of St Andrews and students at the University of
St Andrews will be £106. The restricted ticket, which
excludes the Old Course, will be £87. For senior residents
of St Andrews, tickets will be £89 for 7 day play on
all courses, and £72 on all courses except the Old.
The senior five day play ticket will be £54 and the
restricted, £45. The residents' ticket for the Strathtyrum
and Balgove Courses only remains at £32.
A full
Links ticket for adults living in North-East Fife will be
£212 (from £210) and restricted tickets will be
£174 (from £172). Senior five day restricted tickets
for those in North East Fife will be £89 (from £88).
The ordinary
ticket for members of a recognised golf club in St Andrews
who live outside the North-East Fife area will be £318
(from £315) and £261 (from £258) for a restricted
ticket.
The open
links ticket which is available to any golfer will be £525
(from £480); the restricted ticket will be £395
(from £385). The junior version, restricted only, will
be £197 (from £190).
There
are waiting lists in operation for some of these categories
so golfers should renew their tickets before 1 April 2003
or they risk losing their ticket.
All other
junior ticket prices remain frozen at last year's prices.
Children aged under 16 of residents of the town are free of
charge while for those aged between 16 and 18 a full ticket
will be £29 and a restricted ticket, £25. The
restricted tickets for other junior categories remain at £25.
"The
majority of the increases are in line with inflation, which
is currently around 1.3%," explained Jim White, Chairman
of the Links Management Committee. "As in previous years
prices for juniors have been frozen to re-inforce the Trust's
commitment to encouraging youngsters to play golf."
