New Year new broom at the St Andrews Links Clubhouse

St Andrews Links Clubhouse, the public facility which services the Old Course and the New and Jubilee courses, is set for a New Year refurbishment.

The clubhouse opened in 1995 and has become a popular facility used by many of the golfers playing the three championship courses as well as by the public. It houses a number of important facilities and services including the restaurants, the locker rooms and the shop. There is also a busy reception and information desk and staff offices.

The refurbishment will see the facilities for golfers and visitors improved and a new reception area and shop facility created on the entry level.

Ewen Bowman, clubhouse operations manager at St Andrews Links Trust, said, 'The Links Clubhouse was the first ever public clubhouse in St Andrews. It has been a tremendous success and we have a come a long way from golfers having to change in the car park.

'After a careful evaluation, the Trustees decided to remodel the reception area and to move the shop upstairs. There will also be improvements made to the changing facilities downstairs.

“We believe the new format will make the Links Clubhouse an even more customer friendly facility which matches the expectations people have of the Home of Golf.'

Work on the clubhouse is due to begin on 5 January and is scheduled to continue for approximately seven weeks.

During the forthcoming festive period both the Links Clubhouse and the Eden Clubhouse will be closed on Christmas Day. They will both be open on New Year’s Day but there will be no food and beverage operation. Normal opening times and services will be available throughout the rest of the holiday season.
