Day One
The August tournaments began on Monday, August 1st, with two strong fields entering the Boys' and Junior Ladies' Opens.
The first rounds were held over the Eden and Strathtyrum courses. 48 boys will qualify for round two (32 in the Merchants' Cup and 16 in the Murray Mitchell Trophy) and 24 girls will continue to play (16 in the Golf Monthly Trophy and 8 in the Girls' Open Quaich).
The leader in the boys' event is Stuart Robin of Prestwick St Nicholas GC, who returned an excellent 67 on the Eden. The next best scores were both 69s, from Graham Molloy of Wishaw and last year's champion, James Housby of Penrith.

On the Strathtyrum, the leading ladies are Faye Sanderson of Heworth GC, who won the qualifying stage last year, and Stephanie Evans of Vale of Llangollen. Both returned 69s. This season's St Rule Trophy winner, Naomi Edwards, came home in 73.

Day Two
Faye Sanderson kept up her good work in the Golf Monthly Salver with a 2 and 1 victory over Burnham and Berrow's Donna O'Connell in the first matchplay round, played over the Eden. Faye plays Ashleigh Wilton of Ladybank in the last eight. Stephanie Evans won through her tie by 9 and 7and faces Sarah Herd of Dunblane. Naomi Edwards also won comfortably to book her place on the Old Course, where she will take on Rachel Drummond of Beaconsfield. Also through are Samantha Birks of Wolstanton and Pamela Prestwell of Bothwell Castle.
In the Merchants' Cup, defending champion James Housby was knocked out in the second round by Gordon Stevenson of Whitecraigs, who notched up a notable 3 and 2 victory on the Eden. He faces Hamindar Matharu of Cookridge Hall in the quarter finals, held on the Old Course. Richard Gurney of Kings Norton, 2003's champion, made it through to the last eight and he will take on Liam Sinnott of Matlock. Also through are Stuart Robin, the leading qualifier, Harry Proos of Royal Lytham, Chris Wood of Long Ashton and Simon Lane of Woburn.
Day Three
Naomi Edwards and Faye Sanderson both made it through to Thursday's semi finals of the Junior Ladies' Open and will line up against one another in what will be a top-quality encounter. Stephanie Evans and Anna Scott will contest the other final place over the Old Course. The final will tee off at 1.30pm.
A new Boys' Open champion is assured following the exit from the competition of Richard Gurney. He lost to Liam Sinnott at the 18th hole. Sinnott now faces Harry Proos who won through by an impressive 6 and 5 margin. The other semi final is between Chris Wood and Gordon Stevenson, both of whom scored convincing semi-final victories. The boys' final tees off on the Old Course at 1.20pm
The handicap competitions will also draw to a conclusion on the Old Course. The Murray Mitchell Trophy tees off at 1.40, and the Girls' Open Quaich starts at 1.50.
Day Four
The final of the Junior Ladies' Open will be between Naomi Edwards of Ganton and Anna Scott of Consett. Edwards returns to the scene of this year's St Rule triumph following a 3 and 2 success over Faye Sanderson. Anna Scott beat Stephanie Evans by 5 and 4.

The Boys' Open final will be between Harry Proos of Royal Lytham and Chris Wood of Long Ashton. Both won their semi finals by 5 and 3.
In the handicap division, local boy Sean Thompson will face Ryan Young of Parklands for the Murray Mitchell Trophy and Bronte Law of Bramhall takes on Gillian Simpson of Baberton for the Girls' Open Quaich.
